Rodin Sculpture Studies

I had the opportunity to visit Philadelphia, PA this past June with some other art students and college art professors. We saw the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation collection, and the Rodin Museum.

I took a number of photos at the Rodin Museum, and I’ve been working on these studies using a couple of them. I finished the green, square panel fairly quickly. It’s definitely just a quick acrylic study. I’m still working on the yellow, rectangle panel. A detail photo shows the head where I’ve been able to put a little more work in.

The green panel is based on Rodin’s “The Crouching Woman.” The yellow is Rodin’s “Meditation.” The angles of the figures and their almost unrealistic positions intrigued me the most about these two particular sculptures.
